Kim Kuznitz, Owner:

Known as the “Pilates Terminator”, dancer, martial artist and certified Pilates Intstructor, Kim Kuznitz combines her extensive experience in movement, healing, and the fighting arts to provide her clients with a rare fitness experience in a regimented but fun and creative training atmosphere. Kim’s instruction is a culmination of her 12 plus years of experience as a certified Pilates Instructor, fitness instructor and teacher.

Kim Kuznitz started learning the Pilates technique in 1986, as a required course as a Dance Major at S.U.N.Y Purchase. After graduating with a BFA in Dance from Purchase, she dropped the technique altogether. She rediscovered Pilates by using it as rehab to recover from a martial arts injury. She then realized the benefits of the technique and embarked on her journey to become an instructor.

Kim was lead to the Kane School of Core Integration by a friend who studied with Kelly Kane. There she became certified to teach the Pilates. She furthered her education by studying anatomy with Irene Dowd, a neuromuscular

therapist and teaching at different studios around the city. Each encounter with different teachers, she learned different variations of teaching the technique. She then became fascinated with the kinetics of the human body and moved into a period of post rehab teaching.

She worked briefly under a physical therapist using specific Pilates exercises to help injured Merce Cunningham dancers.

Currently she runs Bent and is PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) approved to train teachers and plans to develop a Pilates teacher training program in the future. Kim continued her education at Hunter College and attends different workshops about movement and body work. She also uses her yoga practice to influence her teaching.
